Memorial Park Celebrates Completion of SPLOST Renovations

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, April 2, for the completion of phase 2 renovations at Memorial Park Recreation Center.

“These upgrades were designed with the community in mind, giving families and residents a space they can enjoy for years to come,” said Recreation Director Robert Walker.

The renovations were funded by the 2018 Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax (SPLOST). The improvements include a tennis and pickleball court, an adaptive playground, a renovated baseball field, two new pavilions, an upgraded swimming pool and improved sidewalks.

The upgrades are expected to provide more opportunities for activities like community gatherings, and recreation, while serving as a place of gathering for the surrounding neighborhood.
