Two local Marietta physicians from Georgia Retina, one of the largest retina-only medical practices in the southeastern United States, were recently honored as Top Doctors in metro Atlanta.
Dr. Scott Lampert was named to the 2012 list of Top Docs in the July issue of Atlanta magazine. Dr. Jay Stallman was included in the prestigious Top Doctor listing by Castle Connolly healthcare research company. Three total Georgia Retina physicians were honored, as Dr. Michael S. Jacobson was also included in the Atlanta magazine Top Doctors list.
Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. compiles online Top Doctor listings nationally, regionally, and in specific specialties. The organization also compiles Atlanta magazine’s list of Top Doctors annually. The Castle Connolly physician-led team of researchers selects Top Doctors through a rigorous screening process that includes evaluation of education and professional experience. Top Doctors in metro Atlanta were nominated by both a nationwide survey administered by Castle Connolly and by licensed physicians in DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, and Gwinnett counties who submitted online votes for exceptional colleagues they would send their own families to.

Dr. Jacobson and Dr. Lampert were also included in the Castle Connolly online list of top Atlanta doctors.
Dr. Lampert, a board-certified ophthalmologist, has practiced in Atlanta since 1980, exclusively treating retinal and vitreous diseases. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lampert attended the Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine. After an internship at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, he completed his ophthalmology residency at Thomas Jefferson University and Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, and a retinal and vitreous fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lampert is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists.

Dr. Stallman is a board-certified ophthalmologist and has been in private practice as a vitreo-retinal specialist since 1990. After his residency in ophthalmology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, he completed a two-year fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Stallman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons, and is also a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He has published articles in several professional journals, and regularly serves as an advisor to several journals to select articles submitted for publication. Dr. Stallman has also served as the principal investigator of a number of large multicenter clinical trials conducted at Georgia Retina.
