- In the wake of yet another school shooting, Marietta City Schools Superintendent Grant Rivera says the district is considering many new safety precautions to protect students. Ideas mentioned include the addition of bullet-resistant glass and open-door monitors at schools across the district. Rivera spoke to parents during a town hall meeting on Tuesday night. - Residents looking to form the city of Lost Mountain were dealt a setback. Republican State Sen. Ed Setzler declined to introduce the bill this session, delaying supporters' ability to get the new feasibility study needed to put another cityhood measure on the ballot. (AJC - Subscription Required)
- Sixteen students from Wheeler, Walton and Lassiter High Schools were named Georgia Scholars by the State School Superintendent. "Georgia Scholars are identified by the state Department of Education as 'seniors who have achieved excellence in school and community life' and they receive a seal with that designation for their diploma."
