Cobb Lawmakers Leading in Support of Religious Liberty Bills
One of this year's hottest legislative issues has deep connections to Cobb County's legislative delegation.

ATLANTA, GA -- Several influential Cobb County lawmakers are supporting the various religious liberty bills that are now being discussed in this year’s General Assembly.
Sens. Lindsey Tippin and Judson Hill, both Republicans from Marietta, are supporting SB 129, the so-called Georgia Religious Freedom Restoration Act, according to the AJC. Joining in that support are Sen. Hunter Hill (R-Atlanta) and Bruce Thompson (R-White).
On the House side, state Rep. Ed Setzler (R-Acworth) has introduced his own version of a religious freedom protection act.

Setzler is the main sponsor of HB 837, entitled the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, according to GeorgiaPOL. The bill is similar to a measure now in the state Senate, sponsored by Sen. Josh McKoon (R-Columbus). Rep. Rich Golick (R-Smyrna) is also a main sponsor of that bill, which is also being supported by state Rep. Sam Teasley (R-Marietta.)
Golick has also authored a bill that would ban businesses from turning away customers based on their race, color, religion or national origin.
