Dr. Douglas Lundy Elected President of Board of Ortho Surgery

From ABOS: Dr. Douglas W. Lundy, co-president of Atlanta-based Resurgens Orthopaedics, has been elected President of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) for a one-year term. Dr. Lundy has been a member of the ABOS Board since 2012 and also served as Treasurer and Chair of ABOS Oral Examinations Committee.
Dr. Lundy specializes in orthopaedic trauma surgery at Resurgens Orthopaedics, and also serves as co-president of the practice, one of the largest in the country. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. Lundy completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Georgia Baptist Medical Center, Atlanta and an Orthopaedic Trauma/Foot & Ankle Fellowship at Vanderbilt University, Nashville. He completed his MBA at Auburn University.
“I am privileged to serve as President of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and look forward to working together with the entire Board to maintain a standard of excellence in education and practice for orthopaedic surgery students and physicians across the country,” said Lundy.

The ABOS Board of Directors consists of 21 members, which includes 12 active directors, six senior directors, two directors-elect and one public member director. Nominations for the ABOS Board of Directors come from the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Inc. was founded in 1934 as a private, voluntary, nonprofit, independent organization to serve the best interests of the public and the medical profession. These interests are achieved through the ABOS by establishing standards for the education of orthopaedic surgeons. These standards are evaluated by the ABOS through examinations and practice evaluations. More information can be found at www.abos.org.
