Ex-NBA Player From Cobb Indicted In Robbery

He and another man stole about $100,000 and stabbed a 17 year old during the robbery, according to the charges against them.

MARIETTA, GA — A former NBA basketball player from Cobb County has been indicted for his alleged involvement in a violent robbery.

James Edward "J.J." Hickson, 29, is charged with two counts of armed robbery and aggravated assault, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. The robbery happened in Coweta County in south metro Atlanta.

According to the AJC, Hickson and Corey Leondrea Tower are accused of taking money at knifepoint on June 15 from a home and assaulting a resident of the home, causing serious injuries. The victim was treated and is expected to survive.

Hickson attended and played basketball at Wheeler High School in Marietta. He went on to play for North Carolina State and was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2008.

He played for the Cavaliers, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards during his eight-year NBA career. He had most recently played overseas this year with the Lebanon Champville SC team, the AJC reports.
