33-Year-Old Fatally Shot By Cobb County Police, Authorities Say
A man authorities said was armed and involved in a domestic incident was fatally shot by Cobb County police in Marietta on Saturday.
MARIETTA, GA — A 33-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday by Cobb County police, according to state authorities.
Murdock Jackson of Carrollton was in a driveway, armed with a handgun, when officers struck him, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said, adding he died at the scene. No officers were hurt, according to the state agency. WSB-TV reported Jackson was shot several times.
Authorities responded to the 3000 block of Michael Drive in Marietta after a neighbor called 911 about a domestic dispute, having been contacted by a female who said her boyfriend physically assaulted her and threatened her with a firearm, according to the bureau. Officers found Jackson and the victim in the driveway of a home, state authorities said.

The bureau is conducting a probe of the shooting at the request of the Cobb County Police Department, according to the state agency, which added the Marietta incident is the 45th officer-involved shooting it has been asked to investigate in 2023.
