Melanie Lawson of Marietta was raised by the water in California, but that didn't stop her from fearing for her life recently when she was bitten by a shark while in New Smyrna Beach. Lawson, 51, was in the midst of a multi-day getaway and had warned her children not to go into deep waters.

No Charges Filed In Racist Post At North Cobb High School: Authorities
Cobb County officials will not file charges against a North Cobb High School student whose vile, racist electronic message caused a firestorm among parents, students and administrators, Patch has learned. The message, attributed to a 16-year-old student, said that he wanted to "exterminate" African-Americans and that he wished he could have been the one to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln for freeing African-Americans from slavery.
