The Southern Museum Celebrates The Holiday Season
The museum is located in downtown Kennesaw.

From The City of Kennesaw:The Southern Museum, located in downtown Kennesaw, is assisting Santa this year with his toy production and hosting a special day for families on Saturday, December 8, from 9:30 am to 5 pm. The Museum will also be a toy drop-off location for the Jerry Worthan Memorial Christmas Fund, sponsored by the Kennesaw Police Department, from November 1 through December 15. All collected toys will go to community families and children in need. Santa and Mrs. Claus join the fun and check on toy quality in the afternoon from 1 pm to 5 pm.
Using the Glover Machine Works exhibit, staff will transform the factory floor into Santa’s Workshop where children and families may meet and take pictures with Santa. The big guy himself, along with Mrs. Clause, arrive at 1 pm to begin with a story and holiday sing-along. Dena Bush, Museum Director of Operations and unofficial Santa representative, stated, “It was so exciting to get the call from Santa! He said that he needed help this year making his toy quota and he heard about our factory. The Museum was of course happy to help him out and I think everyone will enjoy seeing Santa and Mrs. Clause when they come to check on our progress. It will be a fun day at the Museum!” Families will also enjoy seeing the world famous General lit up to holiday music and two special holiday train layouts on display. The Polar Express Movie will show in the Museum Theater at 10 am and again at 2 pm. Families can create and decorate their own unique wood ornament to take home. Children will also have the opportunity to write a letter to Santa to give to him personally or place their wishes in our special mailbox for the North Pole. All visitors are encouraged to come dressed in their best Polar Express pajamas or fun holiday sweaters for pictures with Santa. Please note that professional photographs are not offered but staff will be present to take pictures on personal cameras or phones.
