Murder Suspect Waives First Hearing, Remains In Jail

Raylon Lee Browning is accused of fatally shooting UPS attorney Trinh Hong Huynh as she crossed the street in Midtown Atlanta.

ATLANTA, GA -- The Roswell man accused of killing a woman as she was on her way to work in midtown Atlanta will remain in jail for now.

That's according to Fulton County Jail staff, who said Raylon Lee Browning, 39, waived his first appearance set to occur Thursday at the facility.

Tracy Flanagan, senior public affairs officer with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, said Browning will now have two hearings on the charges he faces. A preliminary hearing on the murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges will be held at 9:30 a.m. April 20 while the misdemeanor simple battery hearing will take place at 9 a.m. April 21.

Browning was granted a $10,000 bond for the simple battery charge, but since he has no bond for the felony allegations, he will not be allowed to bond out of the Fulton County Jail, Flanagan said.

Browning was arrested Tuesday by Atlanta police detectives and charged with the fatal shooting of Trinh Hong Huynh, an in-house attorney for Sandy Springs-based UPS. He was also booked on two counts of aggravated assault charges after stabbing two individuals in an attack on West Peacthree Street.

After he was arrested and booked into the Jail, Browning allegedly attacked another inmate at the facility for no apparent reason. Browning was given verbal commands to stop, but had to be tasered by another deputy on site.

He was transported to the Medical Unit of the Jail and while in that area, he was observed "biting his left arm and spitting blood out of his mouth" by another deputy. Staff members transported him to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released back into jail custody. He was charged with simple battery in connection to the attack on the inmate.

He remains housed at the Jail's medical wing.
