• Miura America to host more than 300 first responders and families at fourth annual appreciation day and UGA game day tailgate (coosavalleynews.com) — Rockmart first responders, military members, and their families are invited to a free appreciation day and UGA game-day tailgate at Miura America's headquarters on Saturday, Sept. 19. From 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., guests can enjoy food, games, water activities, a football watch party, and on-site applications for two scholarships worth at least $1,500 each.
   

• Why Did A Georgia Police Officer Shoot A Family's Pet Donkey? (attackofthefanboy.com) — A Rockmart-area family is seeking answers after a Cedartown police officer shot and killed their one-year-old pet donkey, HeeHaw, during a late-night search for a missing girl at the Elsberry Riding and Farm ranch. The girl was later found safe, but state agriculture investigators and Cedartown police are now reviewing the officer's actions as the owner plans legal action.
