Preliminary results show Price appears to have won Tuesday’s special election to fill the House District 48 seat. The seat was vacated earlier this year with the passing of former State Rep. Harry Geisinger.

Price, a Republican, is leading the race with 51.1 percent, or 1,356 votes. She’s followed by Republican Dave McCleary with 24.26 percent, or 909 votes, and Democrat James “Jimmy” Johnson with 388, or 14.62 percent.

Price was first elected to the Roswell City Council in 2009 to fill an unexpired term. She was re-elected to the Post 3 seat for a full term in 2011.

A longtime civic leader, McCleary is the former president of the Rotary Club of Roswell and once served as the co-chair of Geisinger’s grassroots campaign. From 2001 to 2013, Johnson worked as a senior pharmacy inventory services supervisor, according to his Facebook page.
