Parents' Lunch and Learn - February 10, 2015
"How to Break It to Your Kids that You're Breaking Up" is a seminar taught by a licensed therapist in Marietta for separating parents.
Parents who are contemplating or facing marital separation or divorce in Georgia often question how they - individually or jointly - will share the decision with their children. Communicating this news to the children in a healthy and productive manner can be challenging because the parents also are processing the transition themselves.
2 Step Divorces offers parents (and members of their support systems) a “Lunch and Learn” on age-appropriate ways to share with children that there will be a separation or divorce and gives insight into common mistakes to avoid. Registration for this course - “Breaking It to the Kids that You’re Breaking Up” - along with additional dates and locations are at www.2stepdivorces.com.
This course is taught by a mental health practitioner who provides information on age appropriate ways that parents can convey the news of a transition, react appropriately to comments and questions from their children, and offer local resources that parents may need for their children’s processing of the changes to their family. Laurie Chandler, LPC, teaches this course at the Atlanta office, and specializes in life transitions and more.
