Reward Grows to $5,000 To Find Suspects Who Attacked Roswell Officer

Roswell police officer John Lathem was attacked by two men on Oct. 29.

The reward offered to help bring in the suspects accused of attacking a Roswell police officer last month has increased to $5,000.

Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta has upped the ante for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the aggravated assault upon John Lathem on Oct. 29 outside the Champions Green Apartments, the Roswell Police Department said on Friday.

Around 10:40 a.m., Lathem was patrolling the complex, which sits off Holcomb Bridge Road, when he “noticed two suspicious males” near the 600 building on Belmont Drive, said Roswell police spokesperson Lisa Holland told Patch.

Lathem got out of his patrol vehicle and attempted to speak to the men when the fight started. Holland said the officer was attacked and was cut by a knife on his face and forearm.

“Lathem was able to fire his weapon and both men fled on foot,” she added.
