Savannah alderman pushes towards further guidelines on AI use in city (savannahnow.com) — Savannah officials are moving toward formal rules for how the city uses artificial intelligence, with Alderman Nick Palumbo proposing a framework focused on transparency, data protection, and human oversight. Mayor Van Johnson and City Manager Jay Melder agree Savannah is behind on AI policy, and leaders expect further workshops and public debate before final guidelines are adopted.

Savannah teens join fight against human trafficking (savannahnow.com) — Savannah-area teens are joining Tharros Place's Teen Board to support girls ages 12 to 17 recovering from human trafficking in a local 12-bed residential home. Additional FEMA grants support utilities, hospitals, and mitigation projects across Georgia, but this award specifically targets long-term flood and infrastructure planning for Savannah neighborhoods.
   

4. Visit Savannah Targets Youth Travel Business at SYTA (savannahceo.com) — Savannah's tourism arm is courting more student and youth travel, with Visit Savannah's Stefan King meeting dozens of planners and hosting the opening reception at a major industry conference. These efforts aim to bring more group trips that fill hotel rooms across Chatham County and support local attractions, restaurants, and hospitality businesses beyond the downtown core.
   

5. 'We're fighting for them now': South Georgia group supports families of children with cancer (wtoc.com) — Families in Savannah and South Georgia facing childhood cancer can turn to CURE Childhood Cancer for meals, financial help, and emotional support, especially during September's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The group also funds precision medicine research in Atlanta and offers a garden flag campaign and local events to raise money and awareness for kids like Banks and Malorie currently in treatment.
