A $3 nightly fee is being proposed to promote tourism.

A public hearing is being held Tuesday night on a proposed $3-per-night hotel fee designed to promote tourism in Cobb County.

The money would be used to create websites, maps and promotional items, reports the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

The fees would be levied on hotels within specially created districts, all in unincorporated Cobb. If approved, the money would raise between $3 million and $5 million a year.
