Driver Identified in Fatal I-75/285 Interchange Crash

Smyrna, GA -- Police have released the name of the driver who was killed in a Saturday morning crash on the I-75/285 interchange.

Sonia Major, 36, of Atlanta was the driver of the SUV that collided with a tractor-trailer.

Police say a white 2002 International tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on I-75. Major was the driver of a Toyota Rav4 also traveling southbound on the interstate, when she made several erratic lane changes, slammed into the driver’s side of the tractor-trailer, and lost control.

The Toyota rolled over multiple times, and Major, who was unrestrained, was ejected from the vehicle. She was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The truck driver is Clyde Dantignac IV, 50, of Augusta. He was not injured.

Police say no charges are expected to be filed in the case.
