According to Mobile-Cuisine, The Blaxican is the 2015 Food Truck Restaurant of the Year, topping competitors from South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oregon, and Canada. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the trade publication asked its readers to nominate their favorite food trucks, and the 10 most-named trucks went on to a nationwide vote.
The AJC spoke with The Blaxican owner Will Turner, who said the name came from ethnic slang for people of mixed Hispanic and African descent. He decided that the two culturesβ cuisines were perfect complements to one another and created Mexican soul food dishes like Collard Greens Quesadilla and Mexy Mac and Cheese.
