Three Whitefield Academy Seniors Named National Merit® Semi-Finalists

Whitefield Academy is proud to announce three seniors who were named semifinalists in the National Merit® Scholar Program. Daniel Justice, Rubin Thomas and William Hellier from the Class of 2017 were among the approximately 16,000 scholars nationwide, who were selected based on their high PSAT scores to go on to compete for National Merit Finalist status. Becoming a Finalist will make them eligible to win one of approximately 7,500 National Merit scholarships, totaling approximately $33 Million.

To become a National Merit Finalist, scholars must submit a detailed application providing information about their academic record, school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards received. A Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, and be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying PSAT.
