CCCEPA Alumni Come Home for 25th Anniversary Gala

This Monday evening, the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a performance entitled "Bring On Tomorrow" at the Cobb County Civic Center.

The Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at is notorious for producing some of the nation’s most talented performers, particularly in musical theater.  Many of the school’s most noteworthy alumni are returning to Mableton this week for the program’s 25th Anniversary Gala, “Bring on Tomorrow.” One such alumnus is Tyler Hanes. Having been a cast member of numerous Broadway shows, including Oklahoma!, Urban Cowboy, Sweet Charity and Hairspray, as well as having had several film and television appearances, Hanes is known as one of the most successful graduates of Pebblebrook High School.

“Any time I am invited to come back, it is an honor for me. I see it as an opportunity to give back, and it’s humbling,” said Hanes about returning to his roots for the upcoming gala.

Even before the considerable successes of Hanes’s Broadway career, he was an active and successful student at Pebblebrook. As a dance major with a minor in vocal and drama, Hanes said he sat out and watched from the sidelines as a freshman, but dove in head first his sophomore year as a member of ComPAny with roles in several of the school’s productions.

“The school really just helped my work ethic and developed my skills. And I made great friendships and had great mentors here,” said Hanes.

The 25th Anniversary Gala concert, held Monday, Oct. 3, at the Cobb County Civic Center will feature Tyler Hanes and other returning alumni who have gone on to have equally impressive careers in musical theater as well as in classical voice, dance, and theater. CCCEPA is buzzing with anticipation for this momentous occasion. The program’s director Frank Timmerman is excited for this opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the last 25 years.

“It is such a thrill to have so many of our distinguished alumni coming home to celebrate the successes of the performing arts magnet program. We're very fortunate at Pebblebrook to have a long roster of graduates who continually give back to their alma mater. They're proud of their association with CCCEPA, and we're certainly proud of them!” Timmerman said.
