Last Night at Rev Coffee
Blog about two of my passions. Music and playing at an open mic and safety of women and girls.
Last night was good. I played three songs with the wonderful drum assist from my son Nate. I changed things up a bit and played in the middle of the evening instead of the very beginning. We had fun, Nate was well received and the songs went well. As is usual. I played to a room that was quite and listening to the music...it was AWESOME! I plan on doing this open mic every two weeks and hope to see you at an open mic or any event soon.
On another topic and one of my passions...It is almost time for CHICKS FIGHT BACK to start. This is a self defense program that I have created using open palm defense techniques. My goal is to help women and girls to be safe, to disable an attacker and to get away to safety. Studying karate and earning my black belt has clued me into the fact that women and girls stand a 1 in 5 chance of being the subject of a rape or an attempted rape and women and girls are unfortunately more often the victims of abuse. With CHICKS FIGHT BACK I am hoping to do my part in making women and girls stronger and able to fight back. Come out and join me for our inaugural class on Sept .6 from 5:15-6. Classes will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:15-6.
