Cobb County Commissioners Vote NO on Senior Community

4 Cobb County Commissioners Vote NO on Affordable Senior Community

I'm going to bed tonight with a heavy heart. I just witnessed an assault on senior citizens in our community lead by the District 4 Commissioner Lisa Cupid. Cupid indicated early on that she was supportive of the development of a senior facility located near McEachern Estates, but was swayed by State Representative David Wilkerson to vote NO, not allowing the senior development to move forward!

Cobb County has a massive shortage of affordable housing for senior citizens. This cuts to the core of everything that's wrong with how we treat our seniors. I watched them vote tonight as if they will never grow old.

Cupid's betrayal of our seniors will not go unnoticed or unanswered. Neither will the vote of Joanne Birrell, Bob Ott, & Keli Gambrill who also voted against the senior community. Mike Boyce, the commission chair stood with the seniors by voting in favor of the community.

What they did tonight was heartless and painful. I hope every senior shows up to vote next year as a reminder to the Cobb County Board of Commissioners that their quality of life matters even though they think it doesn't.
