Food Pantry Opens at Old Mableton Fire Station

As we all try to create a new normal for our lives in the face of the confusion, stress, and anxiety that the Coronavirus has caused our community, several Advocates have come together to make a difference in South Cobb by turning the former Mableton Fire Station, located at 5656 Mableton Parkway, into a temporary hub for food distribution for families and seniors in need during this crisis.

The Old Mableton Fire Station has begun accepting nonperishable food items that will be packaged and provided to families and seniors in need. Food Pantry organizers include Terry Alexis Cummings, Major Craig Owens, and Shelia Edwards. We are working closely in conjunction with MUST Ministries to make this Food Pantry available in our community.

We know that we cannot do this alone and are seeking support from other members of the community to make this effort a success.

How Can You Help? We need food donations for families and seniors. Please join us by donating nonperishable food items to the Food Pantry and by sharing this information with family, friends, churches, and your social media groups.

Organizations, businesses, and members of the community can begin dropping off nonperishable items to the Old Mableton Fire Station now. We will be collecting food donations Monday’s, Wednesday’s, Friday’s, and Saturday’s from 11 a. m. to 4 p.m. Those wishing to donate can access the facilities during these times or contact organizers to arrange an alternate drop off time.

Those wanting to make monetary donations should do so through MUST Ministries, which is a 501 (c) 3 charitable entity who will ensure appropriate application of your financial donations.

If you would like to volunteer in the Food Pantry, please contact us directly. We are asking for volunteers to be in good health due to the nature of the work that will be performed. We will observe all safety precautions as directed by the CDC and our State and Local Government.

Please bring your non-perishable items to the Old Mableton Fire House located at 5656 Mableton Parkway.
