Local Nonprofit Celebrates their Class of 2018 Graduates
STING, Inc. Celebrates Their Class of 2018
The 13 Graduates of the STING, Inc. NonProfit Organization's Class of 2018 are on their way to the next part of their journey. Our Recent Graduation Celebration included Words from State Senator Dr. Michael Rhett, STING, Inc. Board Member and Employee of Atlanta Public Schools, Mr. Yanus Brassell and Ms. Monica Delancy, Director of We Thrive on Riverside Renters Association. We were entertained by Mr. Khalil Payne on the Cello, 2018 graduates Ms. Gabrielle Carter on the Clarinet and Ms. Elizabeth Testamark sang a song. Our STING Managed Scholarship recipients were Gabrielle Carter (3.75 GPA)- the Voyager Construction Printer Scholarship, Ms. Elizabeth Testamark (3.9 GPA) and Ms. Chelsea Williams (3.7 GPA)-The Healing Station's Printer Scholarships, Ms. Brianne Perkins -The Clyde and Geneva Vanderhorst Community Service Scholarship and Ms. Kierra York (4.0 GPA)-the Jeremy Hill Family Athletic Scholarship. Gabrielle will be attending Hampton University in Hampton Virginia, Elizabeth will be attending the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, Chelsea will be attending Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA, Brianne will be attending Bennett College in Greensboro, North Carolina and Kierra will be attending Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, GA. Elizabeth Testamark received the Posse Foundation (full ride) Scholarship, Kierra York received a (full ride) Athletic Scholarship, Gabrielle Carter received a partial scholarship and Brianne Perkins received a partial scholarship. Eric Geter (3.6 GPA) will be attending the University of Alabama and will serve in the Military, Thomas Harris will attend Georgia State University where he will major in Computer Science, Garnel Graham (3.4 GPA and dual degree student) will attend Valdosta State University for 3 years then Georgia Tech where he will major in Chemical Engineering. Tyler Roberts will attend Atlanta Technical College and major in Cyber Security, Arayah Barnhill (3.4 GPA) will attend Georgia Highlands College, Anthony Wade will attend the Aviation Institute of Maintenance and DeShawn Johnson will attend Atlanta Area Technical College. Ashton Williams (top 10% of her class) will attend The College of Coastal Georgia. Chelsea Williams has completed 24 College Credit hours in the Dual Degree program. 4 of our Seniors has been a part of our program from the beginning when we were founded in 2009, they are Arayah Barnhill, Brianne Perkins, Ashton Williams and Chelsea Williams. STING, Inc. will not be the same without these young ladies and we appreciate their contributions over the years. (wiping away tears) I wish to thank our dedicated and loyal Board member Mrs. Deborah Douglin for her support over the years. Also thanks to Rev.
