Mableton Food Pantry Relocated to H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center
Continuing to Make a Difference in South Cobb
Several weeks ago, community advocates Terry Alexis Cummings, Major Craig Owens, and Shelia Edwards saw a need in South Cobb and came together to make a difference in the community by turning the old Mableton Fire Station into a temporary hub for food distribution for families and seniors during the coronavirus crisis.
During the few weeks we were open, the Food Pantry was a huge success as we received donations from numerous members of the community and were able to provide bags of food to nearly 80 families in need. Unfortunately, decisions by Cobb County Government and the State Government to shelter in place required the Food Pantry to close.
This momentary setback did not discourage us from trying to continue to provide this needed service in our community. We are glad to announce that we have found a new partner and new location for the Food Pantry. We are partnering with the H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center Inc., to continue this service. H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center is a 501 (c)3 entity, located at 6108 Mableton Parkway, Suite 116. The Center is sharing the space with another business operated by CEO Carolyn Turner. Carolyn gratefully accepted the donations we had gathered during our time at the Old Mableton Fire Station and have begun distributing these goods to families, seniors, and the disabled from this location.
