2-Year-Old Shot in Lithonia
The boy was in critical condition Monday, police said, after his mother said he accidentally shot himself.

LITHONIA, GA -- A 2-year-old boy was in critical condition Monday after being shot at a hotel in Lithonia.
DeKalb County Police say the early-morning shooting happened at the Knight's Inn on Panola Road at about 2:30 a.m.
Police questioned the child's mother, who said the 2-year-old boy somehow got possession of her gun, which was in her purse, and accidentally shot himself in the stomach.

The boy was transported to Children's at Egleston Pediatric Hospital, where he underwent surgery Monday morning and was listed in critical condition, said police spokesman Stephen Fore.
Police obtained the handgun at the scene and an investigation was ongoing. As of late Monday morning, no charges were pending in the case.
