Gwinnett Officer Shot In Line Of Duty 'Doing Well'
Gunfire erupted when two Gwinnett County officers were responding to a fraud call, injuring one of them and killing the other, police say.

STONE MOUNTAIN, GA β A Gwinnett County Police officer who was recently injured in a line of duty shooting that killed his fellow officer in Stone Mountain is still recovering, police said Wednesday.
Master Police Officer David M. Reed underwent surgery and "is doing well at this time," Gwinnett County Police said early afternoon.
Reed was responding to a fraud call Sunday at an East Park Place Boulevard hotel, alongside Police Officer Senior Pradeep Tamang, when police say 35-year-old Decatur man Kevin Andrews shot at them.

The two officers were called to the scene around 7:30 a.m. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Sunday said this was after a South Carolina resident reported to police that their credit card was fraudulently used at the Stone Mountain hotel.
A front desk manager told the officers that Andrews rented the room; and while the officers were speaking to Andrews about the card, the GBI said they determined a warrant for failure to appear out of DeKalb County was active against Andrews.
When they attempted to arrest him, the GBI said Andrews pulled out a handgun and shot at the officers, hitting both of them. The officers then shot back, injuring the man, police said.
Tamang died of his injuries at the hospital, while Reed was initially in critical condition, authorities said.
Andrews is facing charges of malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault upon a public safety officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felony, the GBI said.
Additionally, there are three open cases against him in DeKalb, WSB-TV reported. One of them includes a charge relating to trafficking at least 400 grams of methamphetamine, the news outlet reported.
Andrews was being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail, records showed Wednesday.
The Gwinnett County Police Foundation is collecting donations to benefit Tamang and Reed's families.
Police will hold a public service for Pradeep Tamang at 10 a.m. Saturday at 12Stone Church, 1322 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville, they said Tuesday.
The church parking lot will open at 8 a.m., and overflow parking will be available at GateCity Church, 1446 Calvin Davis Circle.
A procession to Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road in Lawrenceville, will follow the service. It will include law-enforcement personnel, and the public is encouraged to line up along the procession route, police said.
