Missing Stonecrest Girl Rescued By 3 Sanitation Workers: Report

The girl had been missing for three days, when she was found in a trash bin by the sanitation workers in Stonecrest.

STONECREST, GA — A girl that had been missing for three days was found alive by three sanitation workers, moments before she could have been dumped into a garbage truck, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Zahmontay Cherry, Richard Jones and Peter Williams saw the girl in a trash bin that they were picking up on Oct. 4 while working in the 6700 of Old Covington Road, the outlet reported.

The girl's age is unknown.

DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson awarded the workers Tuesday with a certificate of appreciation, Channel 2 reported.
