Woman Dies in Attempted Carjacking

The victim in a fatal shooting Friday morning has been identified, as police search for the group of carjackers involved, according to media reports.

Shaneku McCurty, 25, was shot during what appeared to be a robbery attempt at 1 a.m. outside of the Chevron on Redan Road, according to WSBTV.

The suspects arrived at the location prior to the shooting in what police believe to be a white 2003-2007 Nissan or Infiniti, according to 11Alive.

“When the victim resisted, the suspects shot at her,” DeKalb Police Dept. Sgt. SJ Dean told reporters.

The suspects ran away after the shooting and didn’t take anything, according to CBS46. McCurty was taken to an area hospital where she later died.

Police are hoping the public can help identify the suspects. One was wearing a red hooded shirt and red pants. Another suspect was wearing an orange Polo style shirt with a yellow stripe and the number 2 on the right sleeve.
