• City council approves generator installations at city facilities (tiftongazette.com) — Tifton's city council has approved a nearly $1.3 million project to install backup generators at five key city facilities, improving resilience during storms and blackouts. Mostly funded by a Georgia Emergency Management Agency grant, the plan still leaves the city responsible for about $400,000, but leaders say the investment will better protect residents in future emergencies.
   

• Tifton teen sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to killing mother (walb.com) — A 16-year-old Tifton girl has been sentenced to life in prison, with at least 30 years before parole eligibility, after pleading guilty to killing her mother in 2024. Investigators say online influences, easy access to a firearm, and interest in mass violence played roles, and the district attorney is urging Tifton parents to closely monitor their children's digital lives.
   

• ABAC contributes $137 million to region's economy (moultrieobserver.com) — Tifton residents are seeing a growing economic boost from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, which generated an estimated $137 million for the surrounding region in fiscal year 2025. The college's spending, job support, and debt-light degrees help fuel local businesses and long-term earnings, tying ABAC's success directly to the prosperity of Tift County and neighboring communities.
