CPIE Honors Hester & Morris Orthodontics for Decade of Community Service (valdostatoday.com) — Valdosta families may recognize Hester & Morris Orthodontics, which has just been named Community Partners in Education's Community Partner of the Decade for its long-running support of Valdosta City and Lowndes County schools. The practice and leader Crystal Rowan are honored for a decade of volunteering, sponsorships, and leadership that helped shape CPIE's 35-year tradition of school-community collaboration.
   

2. South Georgia Pet of the Week: Gerbera (southgatv.com) — An energetic 9‑month‑old pit bull mix named Gerbera is waiting for adoption at the Lowndes County Animal Shelter on Gil Harbin Industrial Boulevard in Valdosta. She's friendly with people and dogs, walks well on a leash, and would suit an active family. Locals can call the shelter or stop by to meet her and other adoptable pets.
   

3. Royal Affair Theme Brings New Events to VSU Homecoming (vsuspectator.com) — Valdosta State University is gearing up for a 'Royal Affair' Homecoming, with themed events like a Lip Sync 'Battle of the Thrones,' an NPHC Showcase, and a masquerade-style Casino Night. Students and locals can enjoy the festivities all week while waiting for the Oct. 5 reveal of the still-secret Homecoming concert performer.
   

4. Crime victims meet with Georgia Parole Board Member Josh Waters in Valdosta (valdostadailytimes.com) — Crime victims from the Valdosta area recently met one‑on‑one with Georgia Parole Board member Josh Waters during Victim Impact Sessions held in the city. The meetings let victims explain how crimes affected their lives before parole decisions are made. Local residents who are crime victims can register with the Georgia Office of Victim Services to receive parole status updates.
