Cherokee Marshal's Office Obtains State Re-Certification
The agency is one of two of its kind to obtain this type of certification from the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
CANTON, GA -- The Cherokee Marshal's Office has been notified that it's obtained re-certification from the premier organization representing law enforcement executives.
The agency was formally informed of the re-certification on Friday, Feb. 10 from the Georgia Association for Chiefs of Police.
The marshal's office, which has maintain the certification since 2008, is one of two agencies of its kind to have received this certification from the organization. It's also the fourth time it's been re-certified.

Along with state certification, the Marshal's Office is also nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
The Marshal's Office is tasked with investigating ordinance violations in unincorporated Cherokee County, including those pertaining to animals.
