Honolulu to standardize field permitting system island wide (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Honolulu's Department of Parks and Recreation is overhauling how outdoor play fields are permitted, creating a single, standardized system for all 221 ball diamonds and 129 play fields across Oahu. Sports leagues will now apply in set windows and attend Field User Meetings to hash out schedules, learn park rules, and resolve conflicts, with leftover field time offered first-come, first-served. 
2. Home and nearly all belongings lost in Alewa Heights house fire (khon2.com) — A family in Alewa Heights lost their home and nearly everything inside after an electrical fire that Honolulu Fire Department investigators ruled accidental, with damages estimated at $475,000. While they're grateful no one was hurt, they're mourning sentimental items, searching for a missing cat, treating their injured dog and relying on community support to rebuild.
3. Hawaii's Young People Are Fleeing Paradise.
