Ports of Hilo, Kawaihae on Big Island open for normal operations : Big Island Now (bigislandnow.com) — Honolulu residents relying on inter-island shipping should know Hurricane Lowell has disrupted several Young Brothers barge routes, including sailings from Honolulu to Nāwiliwili, Kawaihae, and Kaunakakai. While Hilo, Kawaihae, Kahului, and Kaunakakai ports are open, Nāwiliwili and Kaumalapau remain closed, and some Honolulu departures are rescheduled, delayed, or canceled as crews prioritize storm relief cargo and monitor ocean conditions.
   

2. Ala Moana park to close for cleanup; City government operations resume Wednesday (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu city offices, satellite city halls, licensing centers, most parks, golf courses, and the Honolulu Zoo are set to reopen Wednesday after Hurricane Lowell, but Ala Moana Regional Park will stay closed for extensive cleanup. Residents are urged to avoid flooded areas, debris, and downed lines while the city's Emergency Operations Center continues islandwide damage assessments and provides updates via HNL Alert.
   

3. UH football prepares for New Mexico State as quarterback Micah Alejado takes rest day (hawaiinewsnow.com) — Honolulu football fans can watch UH try to rebound against New Mexico State this Saturday, with coverage from the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex starting at 5:30 p.m. Hawaiʻi time on K5. Coach Timmy Chang gave quarterback Micah Alejado a rest day after two tough games, while emphasizing the need for a full four-quarter effort to secure the season's first win.
   

4. Public asked to help find Waiawa inmate escapee (staradvertiser.com) — Honolulu police and state law enforcement are asking Oahu residents to help locate 28-year-old inmate Ikaika Wyatt Scott, who escaped from Waiawa Correctional Facility early Tuesday. Authorities describe him and urge anyone who spots him to call 911 or listed numbers, warning the public not to attempt to apprehend him themselves.
   

5. Snorkeler, 88, dies after snorkeling off Nanakuli coast (staradvertiser.com) — An 88-year-old man died after being found unresponsive while snorkeling with a tour group off the Nanakuli coast, despite CPR from staff and advanced care from Honolulu EMS. Police say no foul play is suspected, and note it's the second recent snorkeling-related death on Oahu waters, raising safety concerns for residents and visitors.
