2 Girls Taken To Hospital After Near-Drowning in Huntley
The incident happened at Stingray Bay Water Park in Huntley Monday afternoon.

HUNTLEY, IL — Two girls were taken to the hospital after one was found unresponsive at Stingray Bay Water Park in Huntley Monday afternoon and another was observed to be in potential medical distress in the shallow area of a pool, according to a news release from the Huntley Park District. Lifeguards responded quickly and removed both girls from the water. Life-saving measures were performed by both pool staff and responding paramedics, according to the news release.
The Daily Herald reports both girls were doing ok when they left the pool, police said. They were responsive and conscious and were transported to a nearby hospital, according to the park district news release.
A review of the incident is continuing, park district officials said Monday.

In a statement Monday, park district officials expressed their pride in its lifeguards.
“The Huntley Park District is proud of the lifeguards and the entire aquatic team,” according to the statement.

The Park District is “fully cooperating with the investigation by police and other officials.”
The incident at the Huntley aquatic center happened less than a week after a near drowning at nearby Three Oaks Recreation Center in Crystal Lake. A six-year-old girl was pulled from the water there and taken by a helicopter to a hospital in stable condition.
