Arlington Heights Woman Hopes To Provide Cameras To Moms At Shelter
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to purchase the cameras in time for Mother's Day next month.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — With Mother's Day just a few weeks away, an Arlington Heights woman is hoping to help mothers at a Chicago homeless shelter capture some memories with their children. Through a GoFundMe campaign, Kristin Johnson is looking to gift 40 Polaroid cameras to the moms in time for the May 12 holiday.
"Imagine the joy on their faces when they can capture and keep precious memories with their children, despite their current circumstances," said Johnson, who hosts monthly birthday parties for the kids in the shelter. "With your support, we can make Mother's Day extra special for 40 amazing moms."
Johnson, who started the campaign four days ago, has set a goal of raising $5,000. As of Tuesday morning, a total of $1,330 has been donated from 26 donors.

"In the midst of uncertainty and challenges, these moments of joy are priceless for these families," Johnson said. "But here's the thing — while the children cherish these memories, their moms deserve to hold onto them too. That's why I'm reaching out to you today."
