Graffiti, Fireworks Complaints Made: Arlington Heights PD Blotter

Incidents of graffiti, vandalism and fireworks complaints were reported around town, according to police.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — The following information comes from the Arlington Heights Police Department and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Every person arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

BURGLARY

Kenneth W. Bordes, 36, is accused of burglary, and was arrested at 5:04 p.m. July 11, at Amsterdam Enterprises, 600 block of E. Algonquin Road. Bond was set at $30,000 and a court date of Aug. 19 was assigned.

BATTERY

Michael T. Curnow, 60, is accused of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and was arrested at 7:05 a.m. July 11, in the 1900 block of Charter Point Drive. RESISTING A PEACE OFFICER

Calvin V. Hutson, 56, is accused of resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and was arrested at 7:15 a.m. July 9, at W. Central and S. New Wilke roads. Bond was set at $10,000 and a court date of July 14 was assigned.

RETAIL THEFT

James Kondilis, 57, is accused of retail theft, and was arrested at 4:20 p.m. July 11, at Lowes Home Store, 900 block of W. Algonquin Road.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

  • Richard S. Linares, 51, is accused of aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of combined alcohol and drugs, driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 7:21 p.m. July 10, at Palatine Road and Kennicott Drive. Bond was set at $20,000 and a court date of Aug. 1 was assigned.
  • Iana P. Petkova, 37, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration level of .08 or more, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver, and was arrested at 1:38 a.m. July 13, in the 1900 block of N. Arlington Heights Road.

NO VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE

Stefano Giusep Roiatti Araujo, 21, is accused of operating a motor vehicle with no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 5:29 p.m. July 9, at Motel 6, 400 block of W. Algonquin Road. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of Aug. 1 was assigned.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Michael Williams, 41, is accused of driving on a suspended license, no valid registration, and was arrested at 8:56 p.m. July 14, at Central and Arlington Heights roads. Bond was set at $2,500 and a court date of Aug. 4 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

THEFT OF MOTOR VEHICLE PARTS

A person called police at 7:15 a.m. July 4, to report someone cut the catalytic converter off a Nissan van in a parking lot in the 1900 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. The victim confronted the subject, who entered the rear driver's door of a black newer model four door Nissan Altima with tinted windows. The subject was described as a male, 20 years of age, approximately 5-foot-7, thin build, short hair, wearing all black.

FIREWORKS COMPLAINT

A person called police at 6:45 p.m. July 4, to report seeing a group of juveniles setting off fireworks in a portable toilet in the 1600 block of N. Patton Avenue. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the subjects.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

  • An employee of a business in the 700 block of S. Dwyer Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of July 5, he located firework damage to four metal garbage cans on the property. It appeared the garbage cans had been used to light off fireworks, causing the bottoms of the garbage cans to blow out, subsequently destroying them. The cost to repair the damage is unknown.
  • A resident in the 2700 block of N. Windsor Drive reported at 2:02 a.m. July 7, hearing a loud noise outside. When she woke up, the resident noticed her mailbox was laying on the ground, damaged. The cost to replace the mailbox is approximately $30.

THEFT

  • A person reported at 9 a.m. July 5, she accidentally left her purse in the breakfast area of a location in the 2100 block of S. Arlington Heights Road. The purse contained $800 in cash, her black Kate Spade wallet, multiple credit cards, health insurance card and a debit card. When the victim returned, she found her purse, but the wallet was missing.
  • A resident in the 400 block of W. Hintz Road called police on July 7 to report that between 3:39 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., someone stole five packages from her front porch. The total cost of the packages was approximately $125.

VANDALISM

  • An employee of a park in the 3800 block of N. Kennicott Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of July 5, graffiti was located on seven signs throughout the park. The graffiti was in bright pink, red, blue and black, and used stylized lettering which was difficult to decipher. Some was recognizable as "2Mando" or "Mando."
  • A person called police at 11:10 p.m. July 7, to report an unknown group of juveniles sprayed the bathroom window with an unknown white substance in the 700 block of S. Gettsyburg Drive. The person saw three male juveniles fleeing the area westbound on Techny Road on bicycles.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO VEHICLE

  • A person in the 2100 block of S. Arlington Heights Road called police to report that during the overnight hours of July 6, someone shattered the driver side window on his Gray Pontiac. The unknown subject then rummaged through the vehicle. It is unknown if anything was taken at this time. The cost to replace the window is unknown.
  • A person in the 700 block of E. Algonquin Road reported that between July 9-10, someone entered his unlocked Nissan and went through the glove box and center console. Nothing appeared to be missing.

BURGLARY

An employee of a business in the 1100 block of S. Arlington Heights Road reported at 1:36 a.m. July 8, she found the front glass door was shattered and pieces of brick were within the glass. A review of the surveillance video showed an unknown subject wearing light colored clothing, a hooded shirt, and a black face mask enter the business and take approximately $330 from the safe.

RETAIL THEFT

An employee of a business in the 0-10 block of E. Golf Road called police at 1:10 p.m. July 9, to report a female took multiple items off the shelf and placed them in a bag. The female then exited the store without paying for the items. The value of the items was approximately $570. The subject is described as a female, short and heavyset, wearing a camouflaged tank top and black leggings, with a large tattoo on her right arm. The subject fled in a gray GMC.
