Arlington Heights, IL—The jockey and horse who took a spill Saturday at Arlington International Racecourse are expected to recover from their injuries and race again, the Daily Herald reports.
A racetrack spokesman told the Herald that jockey Christopher A. Emigh suffered a concussion and broke his thumb and toe after his horse hit the rails during the second race Saturday, July 9, and he went face-first on to the track's turf.
Emigh, 45, was on the track immobile for a few minutes before bending his legs and then waving to the crowd. He was taken to Northwest Community Hospital.
