ROLLING MEADOWS, IL — Kate Foley, a sophomore at Rolling Meadows High School, made an impression on Dr. Jill Biden. The First Lady was visiting the area and met with Foley and a number of other students at the school. Nearly three months later, Foley will get a chance to see Biden again — and the president for that matter — during Tuesday's State of the Union address.

Last week, Biden invited Foley to be her guest when President Joe Biden speaks during the joint session of the U.S. Congress in the House of Representatives chamber of the United States Capitol.

"Thank you for taking my call, Kate!," Jill Biden said in a social media post. "You light up the classroom when you talk about your dreams of becoming an engineer — I am honored to have you join me at the State of the Union tonight."

Foley is studying integrated manufacturing through her school's Career Pathways program.

During the phone call with Biden, Foley's mother revealed that the family had never been to Washington D.C.
