Aurora Breaks Ground On $500M Tech Park
A Fortune 100 company will anchor the state-of-the-art data campus, although developers have not yet said which one, according to officials.

AURORA, IL — Aurora officials broke ground Monday on the new $500 million Aurora Tech Park Campus at the southwest corner of Bilter and Eola roads.
A Fortune 100 company will anchor the state-of-the-art data campus. Although developers have not specifically said which company, it will be either Apple, Google, Microsoft or Amazon, according to city officials.
The development site, located just across Interstate 88, will include sustainable features such as advanced wireless cooling technology, 100 megawatts of power and "ultra-efficient" energy systems.

"As we gather here today to break ground on the new Aurora Tech Park and a world-class ... data center, we are amplifying Aurora's commitment to technology, innovation, unprecedented progress and unlimited potential in this space," Mayor Richard Irvin said at the event, where city officials were joined by executives of Seefried Industrial Properties, Edged Energy and ComEd.
The campus will be spread across 65 acres and consist of three speculative buildings that will be built in three phases. The first is scheduled for completion in June 2024, officials said.

The development is expected to generate 40 to 60 full-time and about 2,000 construction jobs as well as $800,000 in annual real estate taxes and $3.4 in yearly utility taxes.
"With the addition of the new Aurora Tech Park campus, the new 'tech corridor of Aurora' is expanding and will continue to be a magnet for other developments in the future," Irvin said in a statement, per Chief Communications Officer Clayton Muhammad.
