Yorkville Man Barges Into Joliet House, Calls Resident A Thief And Roughs Him Up: Cops

The Yorkville man claimed his property had been stolen, police said.

A Yorkville man barged into a house on Joliet’s west side, accused a resident of stealing his things and roughed him up a bit, police said.

Kenneth Abney, 47, was jailed on charges of battery and criminal trespass in connection with the 2:30 p.m. Wednesday incident on Arbor Gate Drive.

Abney let himself in through an unlocked back door, strode through the house and confronted a 28-year-old resident, accusing the younger man of stealing things from his “second house,” police said.

Abney then grabbed the man, pushed him against a wall and told him he was capable of killing not just him, but his entire family, police said.

Abney also allegedly told the man, “I know where you work. I know where your wife works” and slapped a phone out of his hand when he tried to call the police.
