Crystal Lake Man Denies Killing Wife And Her Teenage Sister

Ryan C. Yarber has entered not guilty pleas to murder charges in connection with the fatal shootings that occurred in August.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- A Crystal Lake man is denying accusations he shot and killed his wife and her teenage sister last month. Ryan C. Yarber, 31, entered not guilty pleas last week to charges of first-degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and causing a child to be endangered, according to online court documents. It appears the shooting occurred after an argument between Yarber, and his wife, Allania S. Yarber, turned violent on Aug. 3 inside the couple's home in the 100 block of Marian Parkway, according to media reports.

Yarber is accused of fatally shooting his wife and her younger sister, a 15-year-old girl whose identity has not been released. Police were first called to the home at about 8 p.m. on Aug. 3.

When police arrived, they found the woman and teen with multiple gunshot wounds. Police tried to resuscitate the teen and women, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting occurred while other children were in the home. Yarber's sons, ages 6 and 9, were playing video games with a boy, 11, who lived in the neighborhood when, according to the 11-year-old boy, Yarber and his wife began to argue, according to media reports.

"Their mom and dad got into a fight. They just started screaming at each other, and saying bad words to each other. And then, soon we heard a scream downstairs. And then we heard bangs, loud bangs," Juan told ABC Chicago.
