New Organic Grocery Store Slated to Open in Former Dominick's in Crystal Lake

The organic grocer will open a 22,000-square foot store in the former Dominick's, according to media reports.

A new grocery store is expected to open in the former Dominick’s at 5340 U.S. 14 in Crystal Lake, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.

Fresh Thyme Farmer’s Market, an organic grocer, plans to open a 29,000-square foot store at the former Dominick’s, but Mark Lee, director of real estate at Berengaria Development, did not say how much his firm paid for the 66,000-square foot Crystal Lake property, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.

Fresh Thyme Market sells fresh fruits and vegetables, much of which is locally grown and organic; natural meat, which is raised without hormones; seafood that is flown in daily; locally roasted coffee beans and more.

The grocer currently has locations in Deerfield and Mount Prospect with plans to open in Naperville, Downers Grove and Joliet in 2015.

Fresh Thyme plans to expand throughout the Midwest, adding 100 stores in the next six years including 18 in the Chicago suburbs, according to Crain’s.
