Born in Woodstock, IL, Don passed away at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford, surrounded by his family.
Don was employed by Nicor Gas Co from 1958 until his retirement in 1992. Don had a signed contract to play baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates prior to his service in the Army during the Korean conflict.

Don was a member of the McHenry County Mens Bowling Association for thirty years, and bowled a 300 game in 1983. He was also a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame in McHenry County and the State of Illinois.
Don was a sports enthusiast who coached Little League, Babe Ruth Baseball, and American Legion Baseball in Crystal Lake, where he also was a youth bowling instructor at West Lanes. In addition to coaching, Don enjoyed refereeing football, baseball, and boys and girls basketball.
Don was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan who cherished the time he spent with his family.
Don is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Sund), whom he married Nov. 30, 1957, his son Dan (Jill) Peacock, daughter Debra Peacock, grandchildren Josh (Amber) Peacock, and Matthew Smith, and Great Grandchildren Briana and Chloe Peacock.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Glenna (nee Jones) Peacock, brothers Robert and Jay, and sister Ellen Dortch.
Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Rt. 176), Crystal Lake, IL. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday April 10, at the funeral home, followed by burial in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to McHenry County Youth Bowling Program, checks made out to MCUSBC Youth.
