Dr. Kimbrel apparently asks to resign

Dr. Kimbrel - the controversial Superintendent just hired by D113 has asked to resign

According to this Chicago Tribune story, Dr. Kimbrel has apparently given D113 notice that she wants to resign. In my opinion, we ought to accept her resignation, and move forward.

While this is undoubtedly a difficult decision for all involved, it behooves the Board to make the tough decision and release Dr. Kimbrel from her contract.

Going forward, we need to simply conduct the hiring process IN-HOUSE and sans any Search Firms. We know what we’re looking for, and given all the business experience available on the Board, the Board ought to be familiar with the hiring process and able to handle it with aplomb.

Most importantly, this unfortunate incident ought to send a strong message to all involved that ETHICS AND TRANSPARENCY MATTERS. Future Superintendent candidates need to be beyond reproach. The next hire will be charged with leading and shaping bright young minds that we desire to become future leaders and contributing members of society, and someone who is not ethical simply can’t be trusted with such a critical mission.

Members of the Board, and candidates thereto, also need to be beyond reproach because the Board oversees and guides their employee - the Superintendent.

I emplore you to remember this when you go to the polls to vote on April 7th. Vote for ethics, fiscal responsibility, and transparency. Vote for me, David S. Greenberg. Thank you.
