Massive Local Garage Sale Continuing for 15th Year

Occurring for the 15th consecutive year, one of the most successful fundraisers in Downers Grove is the First Congregational United Church of Christ's Annual Garage Sale which begins Saturday, September 24th from 8 am to 3 pm. On Sunday, September 25th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The church is located at 1047 Curtiss St, Downers Grove, across from the public library.

Proceeds will be donated to the many ministries in the church that help assist those in the community.

You may also drop off donations (new and used items) on Sunday, 9/18 from 3:00-6:00 pm; Monday, 9/19 from 1:00-8:00 pm; and Tuesday and Wednesday, 9/20 & 21, from 3:00-8:00 pm at the west entrance of the church where volunteers will assist you at the curb. Items include household items, furniture, books, collectibles, jewelry, toys, games, baby items, sports equipment,memorabilia, and electronics (no TVs, please). Please make sure that items are in acceptable condition.

I love finding unexpected hidden treasures at garage sales and last year found a decorative vintage porcelain tray and antique jewelry priced for less than $10; a most memorable shopping experience at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Downers Grove.

With many talented young workers experiencing unemployment, employers always look at the unpaid, volunteer experience on a resume. Most professionals consider volunteer experience equal to paid work especially if it demonstrates something meaningful. First Congregational United Church of Christ is in need of volunteers to help with the Garage Sale and can provide a reference for your involvement.
