Car Stolen, Multiple Others Burglarized In Downers Grove

Police say they also found a Hummer SUV that was reported stolen out of Chicago.

DOWNERS GROVE, IL -- Police in Downers Grove are investigating a car theft and multiple vehicle burglaries that took place in the span of less than three days. A Hummer SUV that had been reported stolen in Chicago was also found near the scene of some of the incidents, police say.

Car Stolen In 1000 Block Of Black Oak Drive

Police were called to the 1000 block of Black Oak Drive early Wednesday for a report of a stolen Cadillac. The owner told police that he parked his 2018 Cadillac XT5 outside of his home around 6 p.m. Tuesday night. Just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, he noticed that the car had been stolen.

Police say the man told them he must have left the vehicle unlocked with the key pod inside.

The car was later found and recovered on Emerald Avenue in Chicago via its OnStar service, police say.

Car Burglarized In 1100 Block Of Black Oak Drive

A woman in the 1100 block of Black Oak Drive told police that her car had been burglarized overnight. She said she woke up around 7 a.m. Wednesday and saw that the door to her car was slightly ajar. She later noticed that her wallet, which contained cash, credit cards, and gift cards, had been stolen, police say.

Stolen Hummer Found In 1100 Block Of Black Oak Drive

A resident called police to the 1100 block of Black Oak Drive around 3 p.m. Wednesday after they noticed a car they didn't recognize parked in the street. During an investigation, police discovered that the car, a black Hummer SUV, had both doors left open. A search of the license plate revealed that the car had been reported stolen out of Chicago.

Vehicle Burglarized In 4500 Block Of Cross Street

A resident told police that their Jeep Wrangler was parked in their driveway in the 4500 block of Cross Street when it was burglarized. Nothing was stolen in the burglary, but the resident said they noticed footprints in the snow and that their center console had been rifled through. The incident took place sometime between 6 p.m. on Feb. 18 and 4:40 a.m. on Feb. 19.

Cars Burglarized Near 2500 Block Of Indianapolis Ave

Police say three cars were burglarized in and near the 2500 block of Indianapolis Avenue sometime between 1 a.m. and 5:41 a.m. on Feb. 19. The victim told police that someone had rifled through the center console of his Dodge Ram and stolen a carbon fiber wallet containing six credit cards. According to police, there were no signs of forced entry and it appears the car had been left unlocked.

Around 7:48 a.m., a woman called to report that two of her cars had been burglarized nearby. She told police the cars had been rummaged through, but it appeared nothing had been stolen.

Police say they canvassed the area in the 4400 block of Cross Street and found another woman's wallet. The woman told police the wallet had been taken from her Chevy Equinox.

Window Smashed, Vehicle Burglarized At DuPage Medical Group

A car parked at DuPage Medical Group in the 1300 block of Butterfield was burglarized Wednesday sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 2:29 p.m., police say. The victim told police that she went outside for a break and noticed her passenger side window had been broken. Police say her wallet, which contained her driver's license, social security card, and debit card, was stolen.
