Downers Grove Rebels Take Thunderbolt Classic Title
10U softball team scores a perfect 6-0 tournament record
The Downers Grove D.O.L.L.S 10U Rebels Softball Team captured the 8th Annual Thunderbolt Classic Tournament Title last weekend in Glenview, scoring a perfect 6-0 record.
In the first round of play on Saturday, the Rebels defeated Warren 6-4, Winnetka Trevians 15-2 and the Libertyville Cats 11-7. In the Libertyville game the team came back from a two-run deficit to score seven runs in three innings and allowed only two more to secure the victory.
On Sunday, the Rebels moved on to the next round of play defeating the Winnetka Trevians 20-2. In the semi-finals they defeated Glenview 15-0. Finally, they faced off against the Bolingbrook Fury in the championship game, defeating them 15-9, to bring home the title.

Trailing Bolingbrook 7-3 after three innings in the championship game, the Rebels mounted a strong comeback to take a 9-8 lead in the fifth inning. They scoring five more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh to seal the victory.
The Rebels were lead by the dominant pitching of both Audrey Gusel and Randi McKay.
