Lace up your running shoes, work up an appetite and support an important cause at the 2011 Merithon Fun Run and Pancake Breakfast Saturday, May 21. Check in for Fun Run will take place at the McCollum Park Pavilion at 8:00 a.m. for an 8:30 a.m. start. The Fun Run will be followed by a Pancake Breakfast at Divine Savior Parish Hall, 6700 Main Street, Downers Grove, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tickets for the breakfast are $5 in advance and $7 at the door, children under 5 are free.
The proceeds of the breakfast benefit the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in honor of former Downers Grove resident Meri Williams, daughter of District 58 teachers Pam and Jim Williams, who had a passion for working with kids, especially those that need a little extra support. Williams' friends are hosting a variety of fundraising events in her memory for the kids at Mercy Home which culminate at the 2011 Chicago Marathon. Advance Pancake Breakfast tickets can be purchased at www.merithon2011.com. Donations for the Merithon marathon team running in honor of Williams to benefit the Mercy Home for Boys & Girls also can be made on the website.
