Give Illinois citizens their right to elect representatives based upon non partisan district maps

Independent Map Amendment needs the support of the Illinois Supreme Court

Citizen Appeal for Illinois Supreme Court support of Independent Map Amendment

We the people of Illinois have really had enough of the gerrymandering by career politicians in Springfield. This was made clear by the efforts of many volunteers and the petition signatures of 563,000 Illinois voters to include the Independent Map Amendment on the November ballot. It would change the current system by reforming the rules for drawing legislative maps with a transparent, fair, and impartial process. Less than half of the Illinois Representative seats are being contested in the coming election due to the present rigged process. The Independent Map Amendment was on its way to the November ballot until a lower court ruled against it a few weeks ago. The Illinois Supreme Court has agreed to accelerate their review of that decision, hopefully prior to the deadline for including it on the November ballot. It is now up to the Illinois Supreme Court to enforce the constitution and let voters make this needed change through this citizen-initiated amendment.
